The “Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Antigua” Foundation, is a foundation of the oldest in Galicia, created in 1593 by Cardinal Rodrigo de Castro, with the aim of being a medium for education of youth. Particularly classified as charitable teacher, he was assigned to the Register of Foundations of Galician Interest Section, Ministry of Culture, Education and University Planning of the Xunta de Galicia with the registration number 1593/1, and is included among regulated Article 16 of Law 49/2002

The school “Sª Nª Antigua School”which was built at the expense of Cardinal Rodrigo de Castro depends upon the foundation and is currently managed by PP. Escolapios.
