HAS A CHRIST OF MOURE BEEN IDENTIFIED?

In the MM archive. Poor Clares of Monforte, there is a document or record that tells us about the delivery made by Don Benito Rodríguez, priest and resident of the said town, in 1683, to the College of Nª Sª de la Antigua, of a wooden Holy Christ, a work de Moure. It is also stated that it will be a Castilian rod tall (about 83 cm).

We believe that this Holy Christ is the one currently in the sacristy. Baroque, of such good quality that the same donor describes it as “such a beautiful work.”

We attach here a photo of the Holy Christ and a transcription of the document or certificate of delivery of said image.
